A widower with a son, a widow with breast cancer, and their path toward true love… Former rodeo champion and cowboy Walker Thompson trains horses at Brush Creek Horse Ranch, where he lives a simple life in his cabin with his ten-year-old son, Michael. A widower of six years, he’s just trying to provide a life for Michael that his late wife would’ve approved of. He’s worked with Tess Wagner, a widow who came to Brush Creek to escape the turmoil of her life to give her seven-year-old son, Graham, a slower pace of life. Together, they run a cotton candy stand at the town’s Heritage Festival every fall, donating the money they raise to the National Widows & Widowers Foundation to help those who’ve suffered the way they have. Walker’s boss and best friend, ranch owner Landon Edmunds, has encouraged him to start dating, and Walker looks no further than Tess. She’s interested in him too, but neither of them wants to inflict more sorrow and suffering on the other than they’ve already endured. So when Tess confesses that her breast cancer has flared up again, Walker backs off. Way off. In the end, he’ll have to decide if he’d rather spend even a short time with Tess and Graham than not have them in his life at all. Tess wants to feel God’s love and power, but she’ll have to discover and accept God’s will in order to find her happy ending. Visit I Am A Reader and enter for your chance

But there’s one really important thing I bet we all have in common: WE LOVE BOOKS! And you know what? Winning prizes rocks, too. Welcome to LitRing’s Pirates Vs. Cowboys Giveaway! We’ve assembled a team of 50 authors brave enough to take a stance on such a divisive issue: Pirates or Cowboys? What’s more, by picking sides and entering our giveaway, you could win prizes for yourself AND a pretty awesome promo pack for your favorite author too! What's Better Than a Sweet Texas Romance? When it comes to choosing between Pirates and Cowboys, it was no contest: Cowboys all the way! Of course, I may be a little biased. I live in the great state of Texas, and I'm married to my own handsome cowboy, so there was no way pirates were going to win here. lol
Do you enjoy reading heart-warming romance novels? How about one that takes place on a Longhorn ranch in Texas? Then Finding Joy might be the book for you! Sometimes, what looks like a dead end, is really a new beginning. A horrific accident changed everything for Parker Wilson. The beautiful new employee his mom hires is the last thing he needs and he'll do whatever it takes to make the girl quit and regain the peace and quiet he prefers. Nothing short of desperation would force Chelsea Blake to work on a local cattle ranch. She may not be cut out for ranch life, but her determination to succeed is stronger than her handsome employer’s efforts at forcing her to leave. Unprepared to discover all they have in common, if they set aside their initial dislike, they might find joy beyond measure. Every year, Melissa McClone puts together Mother's Day tote bags to send to the Fisher House, a wonderful organization that is dedicated to helping military families. This year, I was blessed with the opportunity to sponsor one of those tote bags. It was fun watching Melissa's Facebook page as she gathered donated books, swag, treats, and more, filling the Thirty-One thermal tote bags to the brim. Check out the photo below (courtesy of Melissa McClone) to see the contents of the bag I sponsored. How fun! I pray the bag was a blessing to someone this Mother's Day. This year, four additional Thirty-One thermal totes are being given away! For your chance to win one of those totes, head over to Melissa's blog.

It was an honor to be one of the twenty authors included.
Now, I'm not normally a very outgoing person. In fact, I'd consider myself an introvert. So getting out there and speaking in front of a room full of people was way outside my comfort zone. I joked with my husband and told him that it was too bad I didn't write science fiction. I could dress up in a costume that went with my books and no one would have to see my face. LOL But I survived and I have a feeling this first public appearance will probably make the next one that much easier. It was fun getting to visit with other local authors. I even had a wonderful fan come by, which was a highlight of the evening. It was a great experience and I'm so glad I was able to be a part of it! |
